R. Kelly was scooped up by federal authorities while he was taking his dog for a stroll.

The disgraced singer's attorney, Steve Greenberg, released a statement Friday morning about Kelly's latest arrest.

"As has been reported," Greenberg began, "Robert Kelly was arrested by federal agents last night while walking his dog. The agents were courteous and professional, as was Mr. Kelly. The charges arose from alleged conduct in the Northern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of New York. The conduct alleged appears to largely be the same conduct previously alleged against Mr. Kelly in his current State Indictment and his former state charges that he was acquitted of. Most, if not all of the conduct alleged, is decades old."

He continued, "Mr. Kelly was aware of the investigations and the charges were not a surprise. He had already assembled a team of outstanding federal litigators. He and his lawyers look forward to his day in court, to the truth coming out and to his vindication from what has been an unprecedented assault by others for their own personal gain. Most importantly he looks forward to being able to continue making wonderful music and perform for his legions of fans that believe in him."

The statement concluded by saying that Kelly expects to have a bail hearing next week and be released from custody.

Kelly was taken into federal custody on Thursday on federal sex trafficking charges after months of investigation by officials in the department of homeland security.

He was arrested in Chicago by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigators.

The charges are contained in a 13-count indictment that was filed in the Northern District of Illinois. The indictment includes charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice.

As we previously reported, officials had been investigating how Kelly and his associates allegedly bought plane tickets for underage girls and moved them around the country while he was performing.

Back in March, multiple interviews were conducted in Georgia after investigators traveled from New York to meet with victims and witnesses.

One of those interviews included Kelly’s ex-stylist, and another involved a brand new accuser who claims she was a victim of sexual abuse while also witnessing sexual abuse of other women.

One of the key parts of the federal investigation was evidence provided by the stylist, Kash Howard.

Federal investigators and representatives of the U.S. Attorney's Office interviewed one of R. Kelly's ex-employees Wednesday in Atlanta as part of an ongoing case against the singer for possible sex trafficking.

Howard and her attorney, Mawuli Mel Davis, met with investigators back in March from the task force connected to the Department of Homeland Security for two hours at Davis' office in Georgia.

The questions concerned one of Kelly's girlfriends, Azriel Clary, who allegedly traveled over state lines to be with the singer while she was a minor.

Our sources say Clary traveled from Palm Springs to Orlando (with a stop in Phoenix) on May 25, 2015, when Clary was still 17.

We're told the flight was booked by Kelly's people so the feds wanted to question Howard to see what she knows about it.
