R. Kelly's former manager has been charged with allegedly threatening to shoot up a New York theater to stop a screening of 'Surviving R. Kelly' -- the documentary about the singer's alleged sexual assault of underage girls.

According to multiple reports, Donnell Russell was charged by the Southern District Of New York with threatening a shooting of the NeueHouse theater after they claim calls to the police and legal attempts failed to delay the 2018 event.

After placing the threatening phone call, staff at the theater were forced to cancel the event and evacuate the location.

"It defies logic that a threat like the one alleged here could stop victims from speaking about their alleged assault. The violence Mr. Russell allegedly threatened succeeded in shutting down one airing of the documentary, but he was unable to silence the women featured in the film," said FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr.

As you know, 'Surviving R. Kelly was a huge hit documentary exploring the allegations of several women and their alleged relationships with the singer as minors. The series aired on Lifetime network over three nights in January of 2019.

In addition to the charge of threatening physical harm and conspiracy in the theater incident, Russell was also charged alongside two other R. Kelly associates for allegedly threatening, intimidating, and trying to bribe women who accused him of sexual abuse.

"These crimes shock the conscience," said a special agent-in-charge with Homeland Security Investigations, which worked the case. He continued, "The men charged today allegedly have shown that there is no line they will not cross to help Kelly avoid the consequences of his alleged crimes—even if it means re-victimizing his accusers."

According to reports, Russell was also accused of repeatedly harassing one of R. Kelly's victims and her mother after they filed a lawsuit against the singer.

Prosecutors claim back in 2018, he threatened to release sexually explicit photos of her if she didn't drop the lawsuit. They say he later published them on a Facebook page after 'Surviving R. Kelly' aired.

As we reported, another one of R. Kelly associates was charged after being accused of setting fire to an SUV belonging to the father of another accuser.

Prosecutors say the man searched detonating fertilizer and diesel fuel, witness intimidation and tampering, and countries that don't extradite suspects to the United States before executing the act.

R. Kelly is still locked up in prison and is facing multiple criminal charges related to sexual misconduct with underage girls. The case is ongoing.
