R. Kelly is upset that law enforcement has been crawling all over his controversial music studio in Chicago, and wants them out immediately while he argues with the city over a ton of violations officials expect the singer to pay.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Kelly’s lawyer just filed a response in his eviction case, where the singer is accused of not paying rent on the industrial building in Chicago. The studio, which is also alleged to be the epicenter of Kelly’s sex cult, was recently raided by a task force of law enforcement and building inspectors as the city suspected Kelly was using the place as a residence.
The building had multiple violations, and Kelly is being held responsible for paying the fines issued by the city. The “Ignition” singer believes the violations “fall squarely within the Plaintiff landlord’s responsibility to address.” They include the repairs to the stairways and the entire second floor of the building.
Further, Kelly wants all “sheriff activity on the property” to stop ASAP pending the court’s ruling on his request. Despite facing eviction, he’s specifically asking cops to vacate the premises because Kelly and his legal team have made it clear, in the past, that they believe officials have been wrongly accusing the singer of sexual misconduct while trying to build a criminal case.
The request to the judge is requesting that “in the interest of fairness and justice,” that Kelly not be responsible to cover any of the repair costs.
