Could the Bride return for Kill Bill: Vol. 3?
Legendary director Quentin Tarantino is back at the forefront of pop culture discussion with the upcoming release of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which is building buzz like only a Tarantino joint can. With each new release, fans return to old favorites directed by Tarantino, often seeing them with fresh eyes.
MTV’s Josh Horowitz recently interviewed Tarantino for the podcast Happy Sad Confused and asked whether he would ever return to any of his former films for expansion. Tarantino has often maintained that he would direct 10 films and then be done (OUATIH is his 9th solo feature), but he did admit that he was open to potentially doing Kill Bill: Vol. 3.
“Me and Uma have talked about it recently, frankly, to tell you the truth. I have thought about it a little further. We were talking about it literally last week. If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third Kill Bill.”
The colorful and brutal world of assassins would be an interesting landscape to return to, and it would be a compelling storyline to revisit in the wake of Me Too.
Kill Bill was at the heart of that discussion due to Harvey Weinstein’s involvement and Uma Thurman’s injury on set due to Tarantino’s recklessness, so it remains to be seen whether or not it could exist today.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hits theaters everywhere on Friday, July 26.
