Queen Latifah will find herself playing a fixer that is highly skilled but lost when it comes to her life. She will come in contact with individuals who are being oppressed by crooked cops, overzealous crime bosses, and dirty politicians and the fixer is the only one who can make things right.

The new project will breath new life and give a fresh take on the character that was played by Edward Woodward in the original series and by Denzel in the movies.

The Original Series

"The Equalizer series ran for four seasons on CBS from 1985 to 1989 and stared Woodard as Robert McCall, a retired intelligence agent with a shadowy past. The retiree often went rouge to get his kind of justice for those caught in sticky situations.

In 2014, director Antoine Fuqua brought "The Equalizer" to the big screen with the help of Denzel as the leading man. Washington also starred as Robert McCall and the first film earned a worldwide total of $192.3 million at the box office. The success of the first film paved the way for the sequel, "The Equalizer 2" which was released in 2018.

Rumor has it that Universal Television has been on a mission to make a reboot for the past 4-5 years. The new project with Queen Latifah as the main character is the only one that got the go-ahead for a pilot.

The star took a moment when she reached the podium to admire the fact that Harvard has the Hutchins Center which celebrates Black culture at such a prestigious university but, in true Queen fashion, she kept it real. "We straight from the Bricks I mean, you know what I'm saying!" Latifah exclaimed to the cheering crowd.
