Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas paid tribute to Kobe Bryant with their Grammy Awards outfits. The married duo added some last-minute flair to their glam gear following the death of the late Lakers star on Sunday. Dedicating their night to Kobe Bryant, the actress and her Jonas Brothers husband walked the Grammys red carpet and each sported an accessory to honor the 41-year-old NBA star, who passed away along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, in a helicopter crash hours earlier.
Priyanka Chopra sported #24 on her nails in black paint. Of course, #24 and #8 famously belonged to Kobe Bryant. She gave fans a glimpse of her nails on social media prior to walking the red carpet with her hubby. Painting the double-digit on one of her fingers, the actress proudly sported the Los Angeles Lakers star’s jersey number. Wearing a white studded gown with a plunging neckline and silver accents, Priyanka Chopra’s sweet Kobe Bryant tribute did not go unnoticed.
Her husband, Nick Jonas, couldn’t let her be the only one honoring the Lakers legend. The “Happiness Begins” singer clipped a purple ribbon on his suit to remember Black Mamba. Sporting an all-gold suit, the 27-year-old flashed the purple ribbon for Kobe which he wore on his label. Hours before their red carpet walk, Priyanka Chopra posted a loving tribute to the basketball hero and his teenage daughter. Sending her condolences to everyone involved in the helicopter crash, Priyanka foreshadowed the irony of being at the Grammys next to the Staples Center where Kobe used to play.
“Being at tonight’s Grammys ceremony in his home at the Staples Center is going to be surreal,” she posted. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are just two of many celebrities who paid tribute to Kobe Bryant after his death. Stars like Chris Brown, Demi Lovato, Drake and more flooded social media remembering the star. Kobe Bryant’s former teammates including Magic Johnson, Lamar Odom, and Shaq took to Instagram to express their sadness over the tragic loss.
As The Blast reported, Kobe Bryant died after his helicopter crashed and burst into flames in Calabasas, CA on Sunday morning. He and his daughter were two out of the 9 reported dead on the scene. Orange County college baseball coach John Altobelli was also on the helicopter. His daughter and wife were reportedly onboard too. Kobe Bryant is survived by his loving wife, Vanessa Bryant, and his three other daughters.
