The gossip mill about the Royal Family is churning at hyper speed with the release of the bombshell new book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family by longtime royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. The book details the last fours years of Prince Harry's life, focusing on his relationship with now-wife Meghan Markle and the fracturing of his relationship with Prince Willam.

While they were once touted as "The Fab Four," it seems that the Sussexes and Cambridges have hit a pretty major snag.

While the book details how quickly Harry and Meghan fell for each other, it also showed how William was critical of Harry's courtship with Markle. According to Finding Freedom, William told Harry "Don't feel like you need to rush this. Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl."

According to Scobie and Durand, Harry took umbrage with "this girl" and felt like William was trying to sabotage the relationship. A source is quoted in the book saying:

"Harry was pissed off...Pissed off that his brother would ask such a thing. Some felt it was an overreaction. But then, this sums them up as people—William, the calm and rational one, and Harry, who can't help but take things far too personally."

Another friend said that "Harry could see through William's words. He was being a snob."

Kate Refused To Reach Out

A senior aid was quoted saying "There has always been competitiveness between the households. That will never change." According to Scobie and Durand, Meghan had hoped that she and Kate would bond of the uniqueness of their shared position as spouses to the princes. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

"The truth was that Meghan and Kate just didn’t know each other that well. Although some aides claimed at the time that they 'talked and texted regularly,' by the time of Harry and Meghan’s wedding the sisters-in-law had spent only a handful of occasions together.

At the outset of her romance with Harry, Meghan had fully expected Kate to reach out and give her the lie of the land on everything an outsider to the Firm needed to know. But that was not how things turned out. Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn’t bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it. According to a source, Kate felt they didn’t have much in common 'other than the fact that they lived at Kensington Palace.'"

A Lot Of Damage

After Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step down as senior royals, the Commonwealth Day service held at Westminster Abbey was their final official royal engagement in March. William and Kate definitely made it clear that they felt snubbed. According to Finding Freedom:

"Although Meghan tried to make eye contact with Kate, the duchess barely acknowledged her."

Scobie explained to The Times that "to purposefully snub your sister-in-law or your brother or brother-in-law in Kate's case...I don't think it left a great taste in the couple's mouths." Scobie also said in an interview with People that "a lot of damage has been done."

Can these brothers ever find a way to reconcile?
