Leaving England Behind

In January, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they would be stepping back from their duties as senior royals and splitting their time between North America and the UK. They said at the time:

"We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity."

While there has been a considerable amount of internal tumult and drama since then, Harry and Meghan seem to be settling into their new roles.

While they originally stayed in Canada on Vancouver Island after leaving the UK, People now reports that the couple is transitioning to Los Angeles. According to reports, Harry and Meghan "have been living in a secluded compound and haven’t ventured out amid the coronavirus pandemic."

A source told People that they are "looking at houses in L.A. Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family." According to another source, "they will be spending time in California…He’s not looking back."

LA Bound

The move to Los Angeles makes a lot of sense for the couple as they move into the next phase of their lives together. LA is Meghan's hometown, and her mother, Doria Raglan, still lives there. Of course Meghan would want to be close to her mother while Archie is so young! Meghan also has an extensive support system of friends in the area that will be nice to return to after having such a rough go of things in the UK.

Plus, Meghan is entering a new phase in her career, with the Disney+ documentary, Elephant, launching on the streaming service on April 3rd. If Meghan does return to acting or the entertainment industry in any capacity, LA is the place to be.

Coronavirus Complications

Moving during an epidemic certainly is a difficult task, and the couple has been doing their best to help others in the face of this crisis.

There is also the fact that Harry is now living thousands of miles away from his family during such trying times, especially considering Prince Charles tested positive. A source told Hollywood Life that Meghan "wants Harry to remain close to his family” amid the coronavirus outbreak.

"There’s no question about that. It’s been a tough time but at the end of the day he still loves his family and that won’t change and hasn’t changed. He has always been close to his grandmother and he very much wants her to have time with Archie, he loves seeing them together. It was sad they couldn’t bring Archie over on their trip but it was the sensible choice and everyone understood. They do want to go back as soon as they can to remedy that though."
