According to reports, the President’s airplane was only 800 FEET above the track when he flew over on his way to the event.
Announcers on the broadcast can be heard talking about the entrance saying, “It’s one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen.” The planes fly-by drew cheers from the huge crowd.
Donald Trump is the Daytona 500’s Grand Marshall and is scheduled to give the command for racers to start their engines.
The fly-over wasn’t the only treat race attendees got the pleasure of witnessing after his motorcade entered the speedway, Trump’s limo (nicknamed “The Beast”) made it’s way onto the track and did a lap with him inside. The Beast is a 22,000-pound armoured vehicle that is bulletproof.
Trump is not only scheduled to make the appearance but obviously this is a political event for him and his re-election campaign is also running commercials during the broadcast.
“Nascar fans are patriots who support the president in huge numbers, so we definitely wanted to communicate directly with them about Keeping America Great during the Great American Race,” campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a press statement.
Trump isn’t the first President to attend a Nascar race in Daytona, Ronald Reagan showed up at the event along with George HW Bush and George W. Bush.
After arriving on the track, chants broke out in the crowd of “4 more years!” and Twitter has lit up with people responding to the appearance.

“This is the greatest thing I have ever seen! The President of the United States flying over the track, taking laps in the Beast and starting the Daytona 500!! He is in the safest place on the face of the earth today!” one person tweeted.
Another added, “I just watched the opening ceremonies of the “Daytona 500″. President Trump arrived and the crowd cheered. Hats were removed for the national anthem and a fly over by the Thunderbirds. So much pride. Considering the present situation here….I am jealous.”
