Post Malone At Center Of Legal Battle With Concert Bootleggers

By Ryan Naumann

A bunch of bootleggers hawking fake merchandise outside rapper Post Malone’s tour stops have been slapped with a federal lawsuit.

According to court documents, Live Nation filed suit against the expected bootleggers at Post Malone’s upcoming show in Newark, New Jersey.

Post is currently on his “Runaway Tour” which has many stops this month. Live Nation handles the sale of Post’s concert merchandise.

In the lawsuit, the touring company says bootleggers have become a huge problem for Post and his tour. They accuse them of standing out the venues and selling low quality merchandise, which people believe the rapper is endorsing.

Live Nation is asking the court to grant them a temporary restraining order against any person selling knock off merchandise at the rapper’s show at the Prudential Center, as well as the other dates on his tour. They want to be able to seize the fake products and destroy the merchandise.

Live Nation wants to be able to “stop the sale at concerts of unauthorized merchandise which bears the federally registered trademarks1, services marks, likenesses, logos, and/or other indicia of the popular musical performer known as “POST MALONE” and to seize” the counterfeit products.

The suit adds, “Defendants have manufactured Infringing Merchandise for the sole purpose of selling it at the concerts. It is beyond dispute that Defendants have and will continue to knowingly utilize the Artist’s Trademarks to deceive the public and create the appearance that Defendants' Infringing Merchandise is sponsored by or originated from Plaintiff, and Plaintiff has no control over the quality of the merchandise.”

Live Nation believes slapping the bootleggers with an injunction will prevent them from continuing to steal from Post’s pocket. They are asking the court to hold the people responsible for their illegal actions.

In other news, Post Malone recently got a bloody new tattoo.
