Ashley Mattingly was hospitalized days prior to her unexpected death after consuming so much alcohol that she was vomiting blood. In her heartbreaking last Instagram post on April 13, the former Playboy Playmate revealed she was in the hospital and showed herself wearing a gown and hooked up to machines. As The Blast reported, the late model was found dead in her Austin, Texas home on April 16 after a friend called police and requested a wellness check after not hearing from her for several days.
It’s been reported that the Playmate committed suicide, something her siblings seemingly confirmed when they revealed she left a suicide note. They also revealed their sister “struggled with alcohol and substance abuse,” but she “was working toward getting better.” In her last post, Ashley Mattingly hooked up to an oxygen machine with a tube in her nose. Using an animal filter, the model turned the camera on herself and informed her fans that she was “sick from alcohol.” Her voice is distorted in the video, making it hard to understand exactly what she was saying but, according to Daily Mail, she appears to say, “I’m sick with alcohol…don’t drink it. Don’t drink it. Leave it alone.”
In Ashley Mattingly’s video caption, she informed her followers, “I’m not quarantined I took bad advice and drank too much which I vometed [sic] a lot of blood.” Encouraging her fans to “please slow down on the drinking!” she informed them, “U won’t be able to get into a hospital ! I’m lucky!” Besides this disturbing hospital video, many people pointed out two other alarming posts she shared this year including a screengrab from February that illuded to her struggle with alcohol.
On February 6th, the model shared a screenshot from the note section in her phone. “I Ashley Mattingly is not going down as you’re drunk playboy playmate! Remember this!” it read. The day before, she shared another note reading, “DEATH ISN’T FUNNY!” Ashley Mattingly was only 33 years old at the time of her death. Her family described her as “larger-than-life” when they released their emotional statement about her passing. Her Playboy family is also morning her death. Former Playmate Carrie Stevens took to Twitter and shared a picture with Ashley who was seen smiling alongside the late Hugh Hefner. “I am devastated,” Stevens wrote. “My friend #ashleymattingly took her own life. If you are struggling please reach out for help. She was only 33 RIP #playmatesister.”
