Pink Donates $500k To Fight Australian Wildfires

Australia has a special spot in Pink's heart and she's stepping in for the country in need by donating half a million dollars to help those fighting the devastating wildfires. The "Love Me Anyway" singer said she's "devastated" over the horrific bushfires and she's pledging $500k to local fire service throughout the country. Bringing awareness to the tragic fires, which has claimed the lives of 23 people so far, Pink addressed the situation to her 7.3 million Instagram followers on Friday.

Posting a photo with several donations links, the singer stated, "I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires." Pink continued, "I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz." The wildfires have been raging through the country since September and have burned 5 million hectares (12.35 million acres), as well as destroyed more than 1,500 homes. There are also reports stating almost half a billion animals have died because of the fires.

Hugh Jackman Addresses Fires:


Pink isn't the only celebrity speaking out about the devastating situation Down Under. Australian born actor Hugh Jackman tweeted his gratitude to everyone fighting the wildfires on Thursday. "We want to express our deep gratitude to the people in Australia who are fighting these devastating bushfires. Our hearts are with everyone impacted especially those who have lost homes businesses and loved ones This is an immense tragedy for our home country," he wrote. His heartfelt post has already gained over 20k loves and 2k retweets.

Kardashians Tweet About Fires:


The Kardashians, who were evacuated from their homes during the 2018 Woolsey fire, are also shining attention on the Australian wildfires. Kourtney Kardashian tweeted a sad photo of a baby Koala being rescued and fed H2O from a water bottle. "Half a billion animals have died in the fires," the oldest Kardashian child wrote and included a crying face emoji. Kim Kardashian took a different route and decided to address a global situation. "Climate change is real," the KKW Beauty founder wrote. She included a broken heart and Earth emoji. Besides posting about climate change, Kim has also retweeted several articles about the Australian wildfires.
