More important than the physical shape Maroney is in, she appears to be in a great emotional space after dealing with the crippling psychological trauma over the past few years.

Maroney was a member of the gold-medal winning American women's gymnastics team dubbed the "Fierce Five" at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Years later, it was revealed she was one of many gymnasts being abused throughout her career.

Maroney came forward to reveal she, along with many others, had been molested by disgraced former USA Gymnastics team doctor, Larry Nassar.

She was at the front of the athletes accusing Nassar of abuse, along with teammate Aly Raisman, and even released a victim impact statement in the court proceedings, helping to ensure Nassar was locked away in prison for the rest of his life.

Maroney also sued USA Gymnastics for allegedly trying to silence her about the abuse.

Following the public fallout, Maroney stepped away from the public eye while she focused on herself.

Now that she's back, she appears to have left gymnastics completely in her rear-view mirror, and says she is now focused on a career in music.

We'll have to wait and see what she has in store, but it's great to see the star back rocking a smile.
