OJ Simpson Joined Twitter And People Are Losing Their Minds

By Emily Reily

Everyone's favorite criminal, OJ Simpson, has joined Twitter, and a very creepy pall has been cast over the social media site.

1. No One Asked For This

The former football player and convicted robber and kidnapper posted a video on Twitter over the weekend, along with a veiled threat: "I got a little getting even to do."

Hasn't he done enough already?

2. The Perfect Fit

People on Twitter noted that Simpson picked this particular week -- the 25th anniversary of Nicole Brown Simpson's death -- to make his big debut. Could he be any more evil?

3. No One Has a Better Account Than Him

Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, says the Florida resident is "very well informed on current events." Well, good for him.

"He will not be negative. Nor will he comment on the LA thing. It will be one of the best accounts on Twitter to follow," LaVergne continued.

4. Keep Your Distance If You Want To Live

Some decided to just stay away from commenting, giving perfectly valid reasons for avoiding any interaction with the guy who most people believe killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

5. There's a Bright Side?

Chelsea Handler took a different approach to the news, basically trying to make the case that being on social media isn't like being in our government, so phew!

We're not buying this point of view. Simpson's out there now, and he's coming for us next.

It's worth noting that he probably couldn't be in Trump's Cabinet even if he wanted to -- he is a convicted felon, after all.

6. Sports Record Obliterated By Crimes

Simpson got his start in the public spotlight with a promising career in college football, and earned the Heisman Trophy in 1968, when he was a senior.

Later, he played for the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers, ending his football career with the latter.

But let's be honest: We only have one question for him.

7. The Most Famous Car Chase In History

Some on this earth only know Simpson for that infamous car chase, the one that helped jump-start the 24-hour news cycle in what is now our neverending live-TV hellscape. Thankfully, that's something he can never outrun.

8. Who's Stopping You From Being Here?

At least one Twitter user pointed out the obvious: We don't really need to be here for this.

Did the trifecta of Simpson, Trump and Bill Cosby all tweeting over the weekend cause the collapse of Twitter?

checks site Nope, we're all still here.

10. Let's Keep Our Eye On the Ball

But there is some good in the world. There's been a backlash to Simpson's Twitter video. Writer Yashar Ali tweeted a request for people to follow Kim Goldman, Ron Goldman's sister, instead of giving Simpson any airtime.

Ali's message has been retweeted more than 3,000 times.
