Odell Beckham Jr. is now a wanted man, after police in New Orleans issues an arrest warrant for the NFL star for smacking a police officer in the butt following the college football’s national championship game.
Cleveland Browns fans have taken to social media to pressure the football team to fire him from the team.
Today, the New Orleans Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the superstar wide receiver for simple battery. The charges stem from a viral video of OBJ slapping a male police officer’s butt in the LSU locker room following their victory inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
In the video, it appears the officer is admonishing LSU right guard Damian Lewis after his team beat Clemson for the title, and Beckham decides to step into the situation by smacking his behind.
The Cleveland Browns issued a statement regarding the incident, saying, “We are aware of the incident and have been in touch with Odell and his representatives on the matter. They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation.”
But, the NFL team’s fans took to Twitter to vent their disgust with OBJ and are calling for his immediate dismissal.

“Two words: cut him.” one fan tweeted.
Another added, “Honestly trade him and sell out for the run. We can’t win if we need to pass the ball to keep him happy.”
Browns fans sending messages to the team saying things like, “Tired of his nonsense get rid of him,” and “He has to be released for conducting himself in such an inhuman manner. Do the right thing.”
According to reports, the situation could have been much worse for the football star after New Orleans police originally attempted to get a warrant for sexual battery. But, a judge rejected the request, and they were given a warrant for simple battery instead. Obviously, a huge difference for him.

There are a few people on social media making the point they believe the situation has been blown out of proportion. One person tweeted, “Two things I support the police all the time. But on this night it seems like the officer was harassing the LSU players. Now you should never touch an officer just for out of sake it not to be misconstrued as this has become. Now he only gave him a good game slap on the backside.”
Odell Beckham Jr. will have to surrender and be booked by New Orleans Police, and have his day in court.
