Retro rap is officially going high-tech —the estate of the late Ol' Dirty Bastard is releasing a new form of cryptocurrency called Dirty Coin.
In the vein of the ultra-popular Bitcoin, Dirty Coin was developed by ODB's estate in conjunction with Link Media Partners and will be real-deal digital money that will be traded on AltMarket with the symbol ODB (obviously).
The cryptocurrency will be used initially by the ODB Estate to fund projects for Young Dirty, Ol' Dirty Bastard's son. However, fans will be able to use Dirty Coin to get access to things like "shows, tours, exclusive merchandise, and music from the former Wu-Tang Clan rapper."
"Bitcoin is the future of money and all the fans want a part of the future of Ol' Dirty Bastard," says Young Dirty. "In the past, Dad's music was ahead of its time, so it makes sense that he would be ahead of the technology of money now."
Link Media Partners and Young Dirty will work to develop hip-hop music without the use of a traditional record label. Young Dirty is expected to release his first album in the Fall of 2018.
Hey, Dirty ... baby, I got your (crypto) money ...
