Mother of Nipsey Hussle's Daughter Claims His Family Has Cut Her Off Since His Passing

The mother of Nipsey Hussle's 10-year-old daughter claims his family has kicked her out of the apartment he used to rent for her and she has been left with nothing since he died.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Tanisha Foster filed a motion in the guardianship case of her daughter, Emani Asghedom. She is opposed to the joint guardianship petition filed by Nipsey's sister, brother and mother.

"I strongly oppose both of the petitions filed by Samantha Alexandria Smith, Samiel Asghedom and Angelique Smith," Foster says. "I am the other of Emani Asghedom and there is no good reason my rights as her mother should be taken away from me, or otherwise reduced as her mother."

She argues there has never been a "court order ever taking Emani away from me; or any court order that indicates that is not in her best interest to have me in her life."

Foster claims she and Nipsey "always shared the responsibility of parenting Emani."

Since his tragic death, she has "had to depend on the goodwill of family and friends for my food, clothing, shelter and transportation. Ermias had always provided for these needs up until his date of death."

She says the rapper "also gave me substantial sums of cash that I used for the benefit of Emani and myself."

Foster says, "No one seems to care about the impact Ermias’ death has had upon me and Emani. I have been maligned as being an unfit mother, a golddigger, and someone not worthy of any voice in the matter of my daughter and her future."

She claims she has "no financial means of my own to care for myself or Emani" and that she was "was dependent upon" Nipsey to get by. She says he paid for the downtown Los Angeles loft she lived in.

"When he suddenly died," Foster claims, "I came home one day to discover that the locks had been changed. His family is not willing to pay the rent. I am still in the process of putting all of my personal belongings into a storage facility."

Foster says she is "ready and willing to do whatever I can to help my daughter."

She concludes by saying, "If everyone was truly interested in doing what is best for Emani, they would treat me as her mother and not in the manner that they have."

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for next week.

As The Blast first reported, Nipsey's family filed an amended guardianship petition requesting that Emani's uncle, Samiel Asghedom (known as Blacc Sam), and Emani's grandmother, Angelique Smith, "be appointed as co-guardians with Samantha Smith."

The three state that they have been a "constant and strong presence in Emani's life. They have participated in her care and upbringing since her birth. Since the unfortunate murder of Emani's father in March 2019, Samiel and Angelique have assisted in providing care for Emani."

The petition goes on to state, "The request to appoint Samiel and Angelique as co-guardians is, per the recommendation of Minor's Counsel, a form of 'insurance policy' so that should anything happen to one of Emani's guardians, other guardians are already in place to continue in providing for Emani's care without having to return to Court."

Nipsey did not have a will when he died, so the door was left open for his family members to jockey for position as they try and pick up the pieces that were left behind.
