The waiting game is over to see which A-list celebrity will get to play Joe Exotic in a feature film or new television series, and the winner is none other than Nicolas Cage!!
That' right, according to new reports, the legendary actor has signed on the play the 'Tiger King' star in an upcoming television series which is being produced by CBS TV Studios.
This will be the FIRST TV role of Nicolas Cage's career, and he will be playing Joe Exotic in an eight-episode scripted series.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series will be based on a Texas Monthly story published back in 2019. The Texas Monthly story detailed how tiger wrangler Joe Schreibvogel built a private zoo in Oklahoma and of course had major issues with Jeff Lowe and Carole Baskin. Sound familiar?
The show currently titled, "Joe Exotic" is being produced by 'American Vandal' showrunner Dan Lagana and Paul Young who optioned the article in June of 2019, well before Tiger King became a monster hit.
Now that you have had a few minutes to think about it, this may be the great pick of all time -- even though tons of other celebrities threw their hat in the ring for the part. This is going to be great!
It's unclear who will get the parts as Joe Exotic's husbands, but John Finlay has made it clear Channing Tatum would be a good fit!
As we reported, The real Tiger King remains behind bars as he fights an appeal to be released from a Texas prison. Joe was arrested and convicted of crimes related to the mistreatment of his Tigers and of course the murder for hire plot against Carole Baskin.
