All Petty’s trouble started after he failed to register as a sex offender after moving to California. He moved with his then-fiancé Minaj in July 2019. He was pulled over by Beverly Hills police for a traffic violation in November. Police determined Petty was in violation for not registering in California. He was arrested and released on a $20,000 bond. The L.A. County D.A. charged him for failing to register but things got worse.

The LA case notified the feds, who then hit Petty was a federal indictment over the same charges.

He was taken back into custody and forced to face another judge. Petty plead not guilty to all charges and was released on a $100,000 bond. He was ordered to wear an ankle monitor, surrender his passport and stay away from drugs, drinking, and marijuana.

Days after he was released from prison Petty finally registered as a sex offender in California. The system now includes a new mug shot taken by Petty.

Nicki Minaj’s ex, Meek Mill, tweet following Petty’s arrest, “You won’t never see me liking something about somebody catching a case I just wouldn’t say nothing! End of that.”

If convicted, Petty is facing 10 years in prison. Minaj has yet to comment.
