Nicki Minaj is getting some criticism from the Barbz after she went Instagram official with her rumored boyfriend, and it was revealed the man is a registered sex offender who was convicted for attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Sunday afternoon the "Barbie Dreams" rapper shared a photo of her leg wrapped around beau Kenny Petty with the caption, "Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happens," adding, "It's no secret ... that both of us ... are running out of time."
The two apparently had a getaway weekend to celebrate Minaj's 36th birthday.
Fans of the rapper didn't share in her joy, lamenting over the fact Petty is a registered sex offender in the state of New York.
According to the NYCPD Sex Offender Unit, Petty was convicted in 1995 of attempted rape in the first degree over an incident that occurred in 1994. Cops also have all of Petty's "Offender Photos" on file, with the most recent one taken this past April.
Officials note that the offense was "sexual intercourse" and that Petty used a "knife/cutting instrument." He was sentenced to between 18 and 54 months in a state prison, but it's unclear how much time he actually served. It's also noted that he has an identifiable scar on his forehead.
Fans are expressing their disdain for the relationship, with messages like, "Nicki Minaj was suspose (sic) to give us a baby with a rich guy but she fool us now she with a sex offender im sad ? sis downgraded worser then meek."
Another pointed out Minaj's defense of her brother for a sexual assault conviction, and affiliation with rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who has also been convicted of sexual misconduct, one fan said: "I hate to say it, but after #NickiMinaj defended her brother (sex offender) and 6ix9ine (sex offender), I can't honestly say I'm surprised to hear she's now defending her new boyfriend- another sex offender."
Minaj has not yet commented on her new boyfriend's history.
Nor has Cardi B, but give it time.
