Nick Carter has filed a restraining order against his little brother, claiming Aaron Carter harbors thoughts of killing the Backstreet Boys star's pregnant wife and unborn child.

There had already been bad blood between Nick and Aaron, but now things have been brought to a whole new level.

39-year-old Nick released a statement Tuesday evening:

"After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today. In light of Aaron's increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confession that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family."

Nick added that, "We love our brother and truly hope he gets the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else."

The singer and his wife, Lauren, announced back in May they were expecting their second child, and clearly Nick wants to make sure he takes all the precautions to keep her and their child safe.

Aaron, as one can imagine, did not take the news well ... and immediately took to social media to begin attacking his brother.

"Take care. [Nick Carter] we're done for life," he tweeted to his brother.

He also said he had not seen Nick in 4 years.

As we reported, Aaron was seen outside his home in Lancaster, CA on Tuesday looking rough.

His family and friends are extremely worried about his manic behavior, and even more worried that he has become increasingly obsessed with a gun collection that he recently acquired.

Aaron recently appeared on "The Doctors" and said he has been prescribed a slew of medications to treat multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia and acute anxiety.
