Nelly Vows to Sue His Rape Accuser

By TheBlast Staff

Nelly claimed a legal victory after prosecutors declined to file charges stemming from accusations he raped a young woman on his tour bus, but now he's planning on going after the woman for allegedly damaging his reputation with "false allegations."

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office made the decision this week to drop the case against Nelly after the alleged victim refused to testify or cooperate with the investigation. As we previously reported, it's possible to get a conviction without a cooperating victim, but it's difficult.

The "Hot In Herre" singer's attorney told PEOPLE, “Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation. He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation,”

The woman, who has not revealed her identity, said she refused to cooperate with the investigation because she claimed to have been harassed and tormented since accusing Nelly of rape, and just "wants this to end."

Nelly does not want to let her off the hook, with his attorney saying, "this type of reckless false allegation cannot be tolerated as it is an affront to the real survivors of sexual assault."
