Mira Sorvino & Husband Chris Backus Sued For Damaging Rental Property, Including A Rare Piano

Mira Sorvino and her husband Chris Backus have just been sued for allegedly causing damage to their Malibu rental home, and the owner says that damage includes an expensive and unique piano.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Sorvino and Backus were sued for "breach of written lease agreement, negligence, and waste."

In the lawsuit, the property owner says she rented the house in Malibu, CA to the couple for a whopping $55,000 a month, and they have been there for two years.

But, she claims the couple, "breached the agreement by causing damage to the carelessly damaging" the property.

The lawsuit claims the couple, "was malicious in that it was done deliberately, callously, and with full knowledge that in acting as aforesaid their actions would permanently cause damage to (her) real and personal property.

It continued, "for example...(Sorvino and Backus) intentionally and maliciously caused permanent damage to (her) unique and valuable piano. and to the landscaping around the pool and said premises."

According to the lease agreement, which is attached to the lawsuit, the house was rented to "Mira Sorvino, Chris Backus & children, along with 3 dogs (2 are service animals) and 1 cat.

The home came fully furnished, and it cost the celebrity couple $55K a month. The massive property is 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms and is over 5,000 sq. ft. The house also comes with breathtaking views of the ocean.

The lawsuit does not mention an exact amount the person is seeking in damages but states it is above the minimum jurisdiction of the court which is $25,000.

Mira has not responded to the allegations but tweeted a message to her fans dealing with the Coronavirus, saying, "Sending love, light, prayers & comfort to everyone out there in this incredibly difficult time. We will get through this-together in spirit even in this time of painful isolation, the fear of sickness and incredible economic desolation.I thank all health care workers for their ❤️"
