Celebs Support Medical Personnel

With COVID-19 spreading at an alarming rate, people are doing their best to mitigate the destruction. For celebrities, that includes donating their money to different charities that are working to offset the damage done by coronavirus.

Some celebrities, like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, are also donating their money straight to their fans to help people who are out of work (as well as to charity). Others, like P!nk and Ryan Reynolds, are donating millions to organizations and charities like food banks and disease prevention.

Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson also went to their local hospital and donated 120 tacos to staff on Saturday. Simpson posted about it on Instagram, writing:

"Tacos for the incredible healthcare workers at our local hospital! So grateful for these true legends of our time dedicating their lives to battling this pandemic. Show some love to yours in your community!"

They're following Lizzo's example -- the "Truth Hurts" singer donated lunch to multiple Seattle hospitals on Monday saying thank you for ensuring that "we’re safe and healthy and healing people."

A Major Donation

Cyrus is also putting her wallet where her mouth is and is collaborating with MAC Cosmetics to donate $10 million to 250 local organizations around the country that are working to combat coronavirus. Cyrus announced the initiative on Thursday on Instagram live, saying:

"I am so proud to have been chosen to announce MAC Cosmetics efforts, because MAC Viva Glam has a special place in my heart. I was Viva Glam ambassador in 2015 and had the opportunity of volunteering at LGBTQ LA which one of the mac viva glam grantees that will be getting this funding.

The VIVA GLAM efforts are only made possible by the continuous support of the MAC community and those who purchase a VIVA GLAM lipstick of which 100% of the proceeds goes towards these local organizations."

A Light In Dark Times

While adhering to social distancing guidelines, Cyrus has been hosting an Instagram Live talkshow called Bright Minded, where she hosts informal chats with her celebrity friends like Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.

Gomez revealed on the show this week that she has been diagnosed bipolar. She explained:

"Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in America, McLean Hospital, and I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar. And so when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn't scare me once I know it."
