Sorrentino was released on Sept. 12 after being sentenced to eight months in prison for tax law violations. He had been in Otisville Correctional Facility since January.

It Was All Very High School, Except You Couldn't Leave At the End Of the Day

Sorrentino says his time in prison was very much like high school, with all its exclusive cliques. But he says he was largely left alone, and for that he's happy.

“They really loved me. I really lucked out. I was very grateful.”

Sorrentino, McFarland Were In the Same Prison

Sorrentino, who was in the same prison as Billy McFarland, the Fyre Festival scammer, said the former concert organizer was “very quiet” and “reserved.”

Situation continued:

“He would say ‘Hi,’ but he wasn’t in my group of friends. I played against him in basketball and softball maybe, but then he was thrown out of the prison.”

A 'Bonehead Move' Not Made By The 'Sitch

Sorrentino explained why McFarland was tossed.

“He supposedly smuggled in some sort of recording device, and he was caught with it. They said he was trying to record high-profile inmates and they threw him in the SHU [solitary housing unit]. They sent him to a worse prison, I think, recently. That’s a bonehead move right there.”
