Meghan Markle just took a giant step back from her previous royal life, after the charity in which she is patron of, removed all royal mentions around her name.
Just hours ago, Smart Works Charity removed all mentions of her as either ‘Her Royal Highness’ or ‘royal’ on their website. It is a major move, considering the princess is slowly removing herself from the ‘royal’ life and just made her last official appearance alongside the Prince in England.
The site used to refer to Meghan as ‘Our Royal Patron’ and now it simply reads, ‘The Duchess of Sussex.’ On other parts of the charity’s website, it reads, “Our Patron, The Duchess of Sussex.” Those areas used to say, “Our Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”
The change comes after the Prince and Princess announced they would be separating from the royal family, and live in Canada. The couple also said they would be financially independent from the Royal Family, including non-profit organizations.
“While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organization, given the specific U.K. government rules surrounding use of the word ‘Royal,’ it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organization when it is announced this Spring, will not be named Sussex Royal Foundation,” the couple announced last month.
The couple also said they “do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory” as they move away from the family.
The statement added that even though they will get to keep the “HRH” prefix, they “will no longer actively use their HRH titles, as they will no longer be working members of the family as of Spring 2020.”
So, it seems the first move has been made to remove these titles publically from Meghan and Harry. But, the charity is a great organization, helping women find employment with professional attire for their job interviews, and coaching tips for them. So, hopefully, they continued their great work.
