Kensington palace just announced that Markle has given birth to a baby boy, with Prince Harry by her side. He was 7lbs 3oz and is now 7th in line for the throne, just behind his daddy.
It was only minutes earlier on Monday morning that the palace had revealed the Duchess of Sussex had gone into labor.
The royal couple's first child was expected to arrive in April, although an exact date was never given.
However, they are expected to take part in a photo-op at Windsor Castle to reveal the special bundle of joy.
They definitely wanted to keep the details private, and the Palace said as much in a statement explaining, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” the statement reads. ”Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."
This marks the first child for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and the eighth great-grandchild for the Queen of England.
