According to multiple reports, the ex-royal couple fled Canada before the border between the northern country and the United States was closed and have taken up permanent residence in the Los Angeles area.
The ex-royals are now reportedly staying in a compound near the Los Angeles area, but have not ventured out yet due to the quarantine for the Coronavirus. “Harry and Meghan have left Canada now for good. The borders were closing and flights were stopping. They had to get out,” a source told The Sun.
There are several reasons the couple has chosen Los Angeles for their new home base…and it includes family and business. For one, her mother Doria Ragland lives in the area and will be a huge help with baby Archie. Second, this is where all of the Hollywood business agents, managers, and major productions get hashed out.
As we reported, Meghan is now working with Disney doing voiceover work, and her first project was announced this week.
The couple has not formally addressed the move, but have been posting messages on Instagram in reaction to the Coronavirus outbreak. Harry’s father, Prince Charles, has recently announced he tested positive or the virus.
“These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary,” the couple said on Instagram.
The continued, “There are so many around the world who need support right now, who are working tirelessly to respond to this crisis behind the scenes, on the frontline, or at home. Our willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring. This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit.”
Meghan and Harry also thanked health care workers and first responders for their dedication during this scary time, saying, “Around the world, the response from people in every walk of life, to protect and look out for their communities has been inspiring. None more so than the brave and dedicated healthcare workers on the frontline, risking their own well-being to care for the sick and fight COVID-19. Wherever you are in the world, we are all incredibly grateful.”
The couple has been house hunting in the L.A area for quite some time, and have looked in the Malibu Beach and Bel-Air areas. So, its clear the eventual move was inevitable, but the border shutting rushed their decision.
