Matt Lauer Finally a Stand Up Guy ... During Charity Paddleboarding Race

By TheBlast Staff

Matt Lauer is cooling off from the Summer heat wave and raising awareness for breast cancer in the process.

The former "Today" host was spotted participating in the Paddle for Pink event at Havens Beach in Sag Harbor over the weekend. Sporting a Yankees hat and a long sleeve tee over his trunks, Lauer looked relaxed and fit during the three-mile stand up paddle race, and was even high-fiving people at the end of the finish line.

Paddle for Pink raises money for breast cancer research and brought in $1.8 billion last year with attendees including: Ryan Seacret, Jimmy Buffet, DJ Questlove and Laird Hamilton.

It's been nine months since Lauer was fired from his TV gig following sexual misconduct allegations. Former co-stars, including Katie Couric, spoke out on his behalf, while Ann Curry said she was "not surprised" by the allegations.

Since then, he's been keeping a low profile and rarely making public appearances, but there's no better reason to venture out in public than for charity.
