De Lesseps Speaking Out

Luann De Lesseps says the cast of "The Real Housewives of New York City" is "relieved, in a way," now that Bethenny Frankel has left the show, and says the series is now "better than ever."

De Lesseps appeared on "The Jenny McCarthy Show" to talk about how everyone is feeling now that Frankel is gone.

“I think the whole cast is relieved in a way. It also leaves breathing room for other women to shine and show their personalities.”

Spilling the Tea

"I was shocked and I was surprised," De Lesseps said at the news, but added that she thought Frankel was also trying to "steal" the show.

“A lot was Bethenny coming in and kind of stealing the show, but guess what? She can’t steal our show. This season is amazing, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the new season."

De Lesseps also says Frankel's relationship with her boyfriend, Paul Bernon, was not something "she wants to bring around on the show."

'She Can Be Really Nasty'

De Lesseps had some nice words to say about Frankel as well.

“She’s a lot of fun, she can be really nasty … she’s very funny. Those are the people you kind of get up for in the morning because they challenge you.”

It's clear the star is torn on going forward with the show without her.

“I just feel like that part I’ll kind of miss because it’s kind of — you know, it’s challenging. And I found kind of fun in it … I’ll miss her, but at the same time when you’re around her it’s like walking on egg shells.”
