Logan Paul is at the center of controversy again after a tiger featured in one of his YouTube videos led to charges being filed against the owner of the cub.
Nicholas Perkins was charged with four criminal counts, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. The charges include two counts of illegal possesion of a tiger; mistreatment of a tiger, and possession of anabolic steroids.
The city attorney said the tiger cub was identified after appearing on social media posts and a YouTube video with Logan Paul. The video, posted in 2017, shows Paul and his dog playing with the tiger.
The controversial YouTube star did not abuse the animal during the video, but the city attorney says, "Tigers and other exotic animals are not pets," adding, "Keeping those potentially dangerous animals in a residential setting poses a serious safety risk for residents."
A search warrant was later served on Perkins' home and the animal was taken into custody. Officials noted the poor living conditions of the tiger, and allege that Perkins was feeding the tiger cub kitten milk replacement formula with a baby bottle.
City Attorney Mike Feuer said, "My office will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to ensure these treasured creatures are safe and those who illegally keep them are held accountable."
If convicted, Perkins faces up to two years and six months in jail, along with $4,000 in fines.
