Lizzo may have quit Twitter, but she’s still killing it on Instagram. The “Good As Hell” singer posted a hilarious video showing her followers what is in her tiny purse, and through a little sleight of hand, she basically has Mary Poppins’ magical bag.
Through some Lizzo magic, she’s able to produce a pencil, a dress, a wig, and even some wine. Yes, that wine has a screw top and yes it is the most relatable Lizzo has ever been, despite being a body positive icon.
Honestly, Lizzo deserves to have a little fun after being at the center of some backlash when The Biggest Loser star Jillian Michaels decided to comment on Lizzo’s weight when speaking to Buzzfeed. Michaels said:
“Why are we celebrating [Lizzo]’s body? Why does it matter? That’s what I’m saying. Like why aren’t we celebrating her music? [Because] it isn’t [going to] be awesome if she gets diabetes. I’m just being honest. I love her music, my kid loves her music, but there’s never a moment when I’m like, ‘I’m so glad she’s overweight.’ Why do I even care? Why is it my job to care about her weight?”
Lizzo seemed to respond to Michaels’ comments with a tranquil Instagram video showing off her view with the caption:
“At the 25 second mark I want you to take 5 deep breaths… in through the nose… out through the mouth.. today’s mantra is: This is my life. I have done nothing wrong. I forgive myself for thinking I was wrong in the first place. I deserve to be happy.”
She also posted a much more NSFW response on her Instagram Story, saying:
“If my name is in your mouth, so is my p—y, b—h. Enjoy the flavor.”
Still, Lizzo isn’t letting the negativity bring her down, and is using her platform to draw attention to the climate crisis and the wildfires ravaging Australia. She volunteered at a food bank while she was in Australia, and stopped in the middle of her Sydney gig to address the tragedy.
“You guys are the heroes Australia, for coming together and rallying together. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. You guys truly know how to come together in a time of crisis and it’s the most beautiful act of humanity I have ever seen.
I’m so glad it’s starting to get global attention because the whole world needs to see how to come together in a time of crisis. The whole world needs to understand this is not just an Australian issue, this is a global issue and affects the entire world.
“Hopefully it doesn’t take another tragedy to show that and for us to take some action. I believe we can save the world, if we save ourselves first.”
What’s in Lizzo’s bag? A positive attitude and unstoppable success.
