A former employee of The Lisa Vanderpump Dog Foundation claims she was fired after she returned from being hospitalized on a 5150 hold … oh, and also there was a thing about forging checks. We’ll explain …
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the woman (whose name The Blast has chosen to omit) claims she was promoted in August 2017 to the position of Operations Manager.
As part of her new duties, she claims she was told to sign John Sessa’s name (the Executive Director of the foundation) on all Vanderpump Dog Foundation checks. She says she did as instructed and was promptly reprimanded by the V.P. of Operations for doing so.
She claims the situation was resolved amicably and the next time payroll came around, she says she did not sign the checks.
A week later, the woman claims she left work an hour early “due to anxiety.” She says she was later taken to the emergency room and hospitalized on a 5150 hold.
The woman says she was in the hospital for a few days and says that John Sessa told her to take a few extra days off, with pay, to recover. After her first day back at work, however, she claims Sessa called her and told her that between the 5150 hold and the check incident it was “a perfect storm” and perhaps it was not a good time for her to be a manager.
She claims she was let go the next day and she was sent a “termination notice” that referenced the check incident.
According to the suit, she believes the termination for the check incident was used as a pretext to fire her “due to her perceived mental disability.”
She is suing for discrimination and wrongful termination and is seeking unspecified damages.
The Blast reached out to The Lisa Vanderpump Dog Foundation for comment but has yet to hear back.
