LeBron James Drops $3,000 on Taco Tuesday for L.A. Firefighters & Cops

By Gary Trock

LeBron James is doing his part to help out the brave crews battling the fires in Los Angeles by sending over lunch to make sure they're all well fed.

The Los Angeles Lakers star was one of the celebrities evacuated from his Brentwood home on Monday as a brush fire ripped through the nearby hillside, and on Tuesday he funded the delivery of a taco truck to feed officials fighting the blaze.

James, who is a HUGE fan of Taco Tuesday, enlisted the help of local truck, Mariscos Jalisco.

A rep from Mariscos Jalisco tells The Blast they are known in the Hollywood circle and have hosted taco parties at John Legend and Chrissy Teigein's home in the past.

We're told they received a call on Tuesday that James would be paying $3,000 to rent out the truck and feed the firefighters and police officers at the basecamp for the Getty Fire.

The truck got to work and cranked out over 600 tacos for the 150 officials at the scene, and we're told nobody went hungry.

Mayor Eric Garcetti thanked James for the gift, tweeting out pictures from lunch and writing, "Thank you, [LeBron James,] for generously sending a taco truck to support our @LAFD firefighters, first responders, and partner agencies working to fight the Getty Fire."

James has also been tweeting about the hard work from first responders after his family was forced to flee their home.

"My best wishes as well to the first responders right now doing what they do best!"

As of Tuesday afternoon, the fire has burned through more than 650 acres and is only 15% contained.
