‘Glee’ star Matthew Morrison is speaking publicly for the first time about the allegations of racism against his former co-star Lea Michele, and thinks the situation has become a ‘distraction.’
The 41-year-old actor appeared on FUBAR Radios’s All Access All Areas and answered questions about the controversy surrounding Lea Michele’s behavior on the set of the hit show.
“I honestly think it’s a distraction of the bigger issues that are going on right now. It’s kind of like, ‘Ah,’” Morrison said.
Morrison then reacted to some of the fallout to Lea’s alleged actions by seemingly confirming part of it. “You want to be a good, pleasant person to be around. That’s about all I’m going to say on that,” he said.
Michele came under fire this month after co-star Samantha Marie Ware accused the actress of making her go through a ‘living hell’ on the set and being the victim of her ‘traumatic microaggressions.’
Immediately following the initial story, several other castmates of Lea Michele’s confirmed her ‘diva’ like behavior on the set of ‘Glee’ including Amber Riley and Heather Morris.
At the time, Lea responded to the allegations in a lengthy statement saying, “Whether it was my privileged position and perspective that caused me to be perceived as insensitive or inappropriate at times or whether it was just my immaturity and me just being unnecessarily difficult, I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused,” she wrote.
She continued, “We all can grow and change and I have definitely used these past several months to reflect on my own shortcomings.”
As we reported, Lea Michele and husband Zandy Reich are expecting their first child.
The couple announced their engagement in April 2018, and Lea shared a photo of her massive engagement ring.
