Las Vegas Shooter's Possible Vantage Point From Mandalay Bay Hotel

By TheBlast Staff

Stephen Paddock smashed two windows inside his Mandalay Bay hotel room as he rained down bullets with an automatic weapon into a crowd of defenseless people.

Paddock was holed up inside a room on the 32nd floor, and although we don't know the specific type of room he was in, Mandalay Bay hotel's website advertises floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the Las Vegas strip on their high-level suites.

Officials say they believe Paddock broke the windows with a tool, like a hammer.

His elevated position across the street initially made it difficult for police to locate exactly where the shooting was coming from.

As law enforcement rushed the room approximately 10 minutes after the shooting began, Paddock appeared to have taken his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooting is now the deadliest in U.S. history, with 58 dead and over 500 injured.
