Kylie Jenner is catching flak after flaunting her self-proclaimed “good” makeup skills. The 22-year-old, who made $600 million when she sold 51% of her Kylie Cosmetics company, caused outrage when she publically padded herself on the back for her undeniable eye for applying beauty products. Several people took issue when they felt she was boasting and looking for attention while being bored in the house on Tuesday, May 26. Posting two selfies wearing a sheer and colorful snake shirt, Kylie Jenner sported a beat face with tons of makeup.
Turning the camera on herself, the youngest self-made billionaire threw her blonde highlights up in a half-up, half-down hairstyle. Sporting her plump lips with a nude lip liner and matching lipstick, the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star went all out with her daytime look. Wearing a shimmering pink eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, a heavy eyebrow, and long lashes, Kylie Jenner captioned the stunning cosmetics shots by writing, “I’m pretty good at this makeup thing,” leaving trolls the perfect opportunity to go in on the Kylie Cosmetics founder.
Immediately, haters began to rail the star over her “ridiculous” and “dumb” caption. “Shouldnt you be since you have a whole make up and skin business? ?,” one person questioned. “That’s such a dumb thing to say. It made you a billionaire. I would hope so,” added another. “I hope so you have a whole career depends on that,” posted a third. “This is just ridiculous,” shared someone else. But not everyone reacted the same with one person from her famous family coming to her defense.
“Yes you are ??????!!!” her mama, Kris Jenner, responded on her youngest daughter’s post. Fans will recall that Kylie Jenner sold a majority of her Kylie Cosmetics company for a whopping $600 million in 2019 after launching the brand four years prior. She sold 51% of her popular makeup company to beauty conglomerate Coty, which owns beauty brands like OPI, Covergirl, Rimmel, Clairol, and GHD. According to the Business of Fashion, Kylie Cosmetics was valued at $1.2 billion. Following the news of the sale, the reality star released a statement explaining that her team would still be in control of all creative aspects.
“I’m excited to partner with Coty to continue to reach even more fans of Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin around the world. I look forward to continuing the creativity and ingenuity for each collection that consumers have come to expect and engaging with my fans across social media,” the release stated.
