Kylie Jenner is clapping back at people who accused the make-up mogul of intentionally failing to promote a black-owned clothing brand after modeling one of their pieces on Instagram, calling it ‘just a reach!’
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star originally posted several photos of herself sporting a stunning skin-tight mini-dress which was made by Loud Brand Studios. But, in the post, Kylie failed to tag the designer — something that is commonly done on social media as a nod to makers of any given product.
As you can imagine, Twitter exploded with several people tweeting at the reality star things like, “Kylie Jenner is refusing to tag the designer of the dress she just posted, which is a black-owned brand, and now limiting her comments @LoudBrndStudios is the designer!”
So, Kylie clapped back tweeting,“Ok this is just a reach. why would i ever REFUSE to tag a brand and block comments. this is completely false. i think this brand is amazing and i wanted to show support and will continue to do so. everyone go check out @LoudBrndStudios.”
Kylie also responded to one fan who urged Jenner “If you wear or use any other black-owned businesses please post them,” — KJ responded on Twitter saying, “I completely agree.”
“THEN TAG THEM,” one upset person tweeted.
Adding, “You have no problem tagging Dior, Balenciaga etc from the get, why do we have to cause a scene to get you to tag a small black-owned business??! Weird how YOU can benefit off black culture but won’t allow black people to benefit off of YOU.”
At some point, the company broke their silence tweeting out a positive message to Kylie, saying, “Hi guys!!!! We are so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love wow !!! We are so grateful for Jill (Kylie’s stylist) and Kylie because this has really changed things for us so excited to be featured on her platform how amazing !!! Thank you so much Jill and Kylie.”
Kylie responded by saying, “I love you guys.”
Several others supported Kylie in this situation, tweeting out, “I don’t love the Kardashians but seriously, I don’t agree with you in this. Kylie has no obligation to promote that designer/brand.she was not paid to advertise for them. It is not her business to do that and ya’ll should stop this.”
Another person added, “I”m confused…it’s her IG so why does she “have” to do anything? I don’t follow her it’s her social media. She doesn’t have to do or not do anything unless it’s sponsored and then she has to disclose it.”
