According to a statement issued by the couple, they have made the decision to file for divorce and called the move a “loving conclusion.”
“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” the statement begins.
The couple continues, “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.”
Interestingly, Kristin and Jay seem to be getting in front of any news that there could be infidelity in their marriage by adding to the public statement specifics about why they decided to split.
“This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family,” the statement concludes.
The ‘Very Cavallari’ star and former NFL quarterback tied the knot back in 2013 and share song Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5, and daughter Saylor, 4.
Both Kristin and Jay shared the couple’s comments on their Instagram pages.
At one point, Kristin admitted she was apprehensive about marrying Cutler in the first place. On her reality show, Cavallari said during a conversation with her friend Justin Anderson she was torn about the decision. Anderson was reportedly experiencing issues with his boyfriend at the time, and spoke to her about it.
“How did you know when it was right?” Anderson asked Cavallari in reference to her relationship with Jay.
“So, I met Jay when I was 23. I was a f** baby, but he told me he loved me after two months, and then he proposed after eight months, and it all just moved so fast,” she said.
At the time, Cavallari said she remembered a moment where she wasn’t sure about getting married. “And then I remember I just all of a sudden was like, ‘this isn’t right.’ Like, there are certain things in our relationship that needed to change, and I was just, like, ‘I don’t know that this is what I want,” she said.
It’s unclear if the couple has already started the legal process of filing for divorce.
