As we reported, Jenner rented a private helicopter to celebrate Rob Kardashian’s daughter Dream’s birthday. At the time, Kylie and Rob posted several photos of the party inside and around the helicopter.
Kylie addressed the situation on Instagram, posting a photo featuring all nine victim’s in the crash along with a message about being in the same aircraft.
“rest in peace…and prayers to these families. i still can’t believe this. that was the helicopter i would fly on from time to time with that pilot, Ara. he was such a nice man. hold your loved ones close,” Kylie posted on Instagram.
Ara Zobayan was piloting the aircraft when Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, along with 7 other passengers crashed into a hillside near Calabasas, CA.
On November 10, 2019, Kylie Jenner rented the Sikorsky helicopter for Dream’s 3rd birthday. Rob Kardashian and Kylie shared photographs of the great birthday present, along with several photos from inside of the helicopter.
Kylie explained on Instagram she was taking Dream Kardashian for her “first helicopter ride” over the skies of Los Angeles. During the flight, pink cupcakes were served to the part crew.
“Took dream on her first helicopter ride… happy birthday baby girl.. you are a gift,” the make-mogul posted the day of the ride.
Kylie also shared moments from the chopper ride including the group flying over the Hollywood sign. Rob also posted pictures of his daughter on the flight, saying, “Happy Birthday Dream.” Several fans have pointed out on his post that this is the same helicopter Kobe Bryant was traveling in.
“Oh wow I just noticed this is the same helicopter which was Kobe Bryant’s. ??That’s really eary… N72EX,” one person wrote.
It’s unclear what went wrong on that fateful morning, while Kobe and the group traveled from Orange County to Los Angeles for a youth basketball game. According to recordings of the pilot speaking to air traffic control, it appears he was flying at a low altitude to avoid the fog.
We’re told, however, that the pilot was extremely qualified to be flying in such weather. In fact, he was a flight instructor.
Investigators have gathered information including recent paperwork on the aircraft’s maintenance. It is unclear if anything went wrong mechanically or if it was just a terrible accident in bad weather.
