Legendary Hollywood star Kirk Douglas left an incredible gift after he passed away, the actor left his $80 Million dollar fortune to charity.
Douglas, who starred in huge classic films like ‘Spartacus’ reportedly left a bulk of his fortune to the ‘Douglas Foundation’ which benefits the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, The Kirk and Anne Douglas Childhood Center, and a scholarship for underprivileged students.
As we reported, Douglas died at the age of 103 on February 5, 2020.
According to The Mirror, a remaining $10 Million of the actor’s fortune may go to his family which includes his wife, Anne, and three sons, Joel, Peter, and Michael.
As you know, Douglas’ son Michael is a huge actor in his own right and has amassed a $300 Million fortune from his decades-long successful run on the big screen.
Kirk was known to a great philanthropist in his life and it seems he made the ultimate charitable gift upon his death. Michael Douglas was well aware of his father’s work for the less fortunate and mentioned it in his statement upon his dad’s death.
“To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to,” he said in a statement.
He continued, “But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great-grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband. Kirk’s life was well-lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet.
He ended his comments with this, “Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad – I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”
