Kim Kardashian Settles Legal Battle With Doctor Over 'Vampire Facial'

By Ryan Naumann

Kim Kardashian scored a victory in the lawsuit she brought accusing a doctor of wrongfully profiting off her famous name.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Kim has hashed out a settlement with Dr. Charles Runels, who calls himself the inventor of the Vampire Facial.

Kim sued the doctor accusing him of plastering her face and name all over his website, without permission.

Per their deal, Dr. Runels has agreed to an injunction prohibiting him from using Kim’s name or likeness ever again. Kim has the right to bring another lawsuit if the doctor breaches the deal.

The Blast

Back in December, Kardashian, along with her company Kimsaprincess Inc., sued Dr. Charles Runels, the American Cosmetic Cellular Medicine Association & Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Laser Care, a Medical Corporation.

Runels calls himself the inventor of the Vampire Facelift® & Vampire Breast Lift®.” He runs the company American Cosmetic Cellular Medicine Association. The reality star accused the doctor of using her face and likeness to promote his business.

The lawsuit read, “Defendant Charles Runels is a doctor in Alabama. In characteristically self-promoting fashion, he describes himself alternatively as the “Orgasm Doctor” and the “Calvin Klein of medicine.” To that end, while he appears to maintain a small practice in Alabama, most of his time is spent touting the various cosmetic procedures he has purported to trademark—including, as relevant here, the Vampire Facial (as well as the Orgasm Shot, the Vampire Facelift, and the Vampire Breast Lift).

On December 7, Runels tweet “Kim Kardashian & The Secret Legal Story Behind the Most Famous Celebrity Vampire Selfie.” Kardashian admitted to getting a vampire facial seven years ago but was horrified to discover her face plastered all over Runels website. Kardashian says she was horrified after finding her face plastered all over Runels websites.

The suit added, “Runels’ scheme to misappropriate Ms. Kardashian’s hard-earned popularity without her permission is so pervasive that she features prominently in, of all places, his LinkedIn profile. Quite literally, on his profile page, her photo is twice as large as his, as seen below.”

The suit said, “When Ms. Kardashian reached out to Runels and his trademark attorney to demand that he cease using her name and likeness without her consent, he not only refused to take down the pictures of her and references to her; he had the temerity to demand that she pay him.”

Kardashian sued demanding an injunction against the doctor and unspecified damages.
