Kim Kardashian Will Not Use Kimono for Shapewear Line

By Gary Trock

Kim Kardashian has listened to the tsunami of criticism that came after she announced the name of her shapewear line as Kimono, and has officially declared that Kimono is no more.

The reality star took to social media on Monday with the announcement, which also seemed to leave out an apology to the Asian fans she had offended with the name in the first place.

"Being an entrepreneur and my own boss has been one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve been blessed with in my life," Kardashian began.

She continued, "What’s made it possible for me after all of these years has been the direct line of communication with my fans and the public. I am always listening, learning and growing - I so appreciate the passion and varied perspectives that people bring to me."

Kardashian said she first announced, Kimono, "I did so with the best intentions in mind."

However, she realizes it wasn't meant with the celebration she anticipated, and now, "I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name."

The "KUWTK" star did not offer an apology for her cultural misstep, but did write, "My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core."

As we reported, the move by Kardashian caused such international shockwaves that the Mayor of the Japanese city of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, asked her to reconsider the name.

"Kimono is a traditional ethnic dress fostered in our rich nature and history with our predecessors’ tireless endeavours and studies, and it is a culture that has been cherished and passed down with care in our living. Also, it is a fruit of craftsmanship and truly symbolizes sense of beauty, spirits and values of Japanese," Mayor Kadokawa wrote.

It's currently unclear what the new name for her shapewear will be -- but hopefully she knows Kimchi is already taken, too.
