Simon Cowell Tells Kelly Clarkson He Hopes To Work With Paula & Randy Again

Kelly Clarkson sat down with the original “American Idol” judges Simon, Paula & Randy during a reunion on her talk show.

In the opening of the show, Clarkson belted out a cover of Paula's hit song “Straight Up”.

Clarkson then introduced out the original “AI” judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. The singer grilled the trio on whether they fought behind the scenes.

The trio were the OG judges on season one in 2002, where Clarkson was the champion. Clarkson beat out Justin Guarini to become the first-ever winner of "American Idol.

During the sit-down, she asked if they ever had arguments during “American Idol” tapings. Jackson told her “a lot of them” and Abdul agreed with the statement. Cowell revealed Abdul “kept quitting” during season one.

Jackson, Abdul and Cowell gave updates on themselves during the reunion. Clarkson even got Cowell to admit he wants to do another show with Abdul and Jackson.

Cowell told Clarkson he was proud of her and said “Unlike the majority, you are the same person off camera as on camera. And you’ve been very loyal and a great friend. You deserve everything you work hard for it.”


Clarkson then welcomed season one runner-up, Justin Guarini, to the stage.


He shared secrets of filming the singing competition with Clarkson. He then gave updates on his career which includes Broadway and memorable Diet Dr. Pepper campaign.

Ryan Seacrest also joined the foursome via satellite. The reunion had been in the works for months.


Clarkson’s talk show launched last week to big numbers.

Deadline reported the show had the highest debut rating for any syndicated show in seven years. The premiere episode had a 1.9 household rating. The debut was on par with the premiere of Katie Couric’s talk show in 2012.
