Katy Perry announced her new album with her single “Never Worn White” while also unveiling that she was six months pregnant with her fiancé Orlando Bloom‘s baby. She posted about the big reveal on Instagram, writing:
“Let’s just say it’s gonna be a jam packed summer… ?❤️? #NeverWorenWhite is out now”
“It was all set for Japan with 150 guests Katy was actually really excited about walking down the aisle pregnant.”
After the big reveal, Perry took to Instagram Live to share some details about her pregnancy and what to expect from the upcoming album. Album and baby are both coming this summer, so it’s safe to say that Perry is going to have a jam packed summer.
“There’s a lot that will be happening this summer. Not only will I be giving birth, literally, but also, figuratively, to something you guys have been waiting for. So let’s just call it a double whammy.”
Katy offered a little insight into her pregnancy cravings, explaining that her baby has spicy taste.
“I like literally never cared for spice, and now I have to carry Tabasco sauce in my purse like that woman. Like I am that woman. I am Karen with her Tabasco sauce. Some people have essential oils and I have Tabasco sauce.”
She also explained that “Never Wore White” wasn’t technically the first single from the album, but rather a “reveal.”
“It’s a love song. It’s a super vulnerable song for me to put out there because it’s very honest. It’s about surrendering to love all that you go through when you’re about to really commit to someone and all the highs and lows of it, and the good and the bad and the fear…the things that kind of come out. I don’t know about any of you but when you’re about to commit to someone, sometimes you can feel very scared about it and it’s a big decision and so you really have to fight through that. But it’s a beautiful song and the truth is, I have never worn white, ’cause last time, or the time before this, 10 years ago, I wore dove gray.”
Congrats, parents to be!
