A Massive Endeavor

Kanye West has always been working to expand his career beyond rapper, whether that is potentially running for President or revamping his entire image as a born again Christian.

With the release of his gospel album Jesus Is King and the ubiquity of his Sunday Services, Kanye is clearly dedicated to this spiritual rebrand. We definitely should have seen this coming when he banned premarital sex while working on his album and held a service at Joel Osteen's church, but it still feels like a radical change for the rapper.

He's hitting the road with this new zealotry, taking his Sunday Services global. Instead of a regular tour promoting Jesus Is King, West is planning Sunday Service events worldwide, including Europe and Africa.

According to TMZ, "his muse and sole focus in the new year is to bring the word of God to people via his Sunday Service."

While these Sunday Services won't be weekly due to travel time, but it will likely be a lengthy tour. While official dates haven't been announced yet, Kanye will definitely be throwing a joint event with a Joel Osteen at Yankee Stadium in May as part of Osteen’s “Night Of Hope” tour.

He Doesn't Want To Traditionally Tour

Kanye had hinted about a tour along these lines back in October, when sources told TMZ that "his upcoming tour for Jesus is King will be unlike anything anyone has seen. We're told the Sunday Service format will serve as a pillar to the production, but it's only a part of the larger picture."

Today's report echoed that sentiment, claiming that Kanye simply wasn't interested in a more traditional tour anymore.

"He has no interest in traditional touring for his music anymore, but he does plan to keep recording gospel tunes with his choir ... which he continues to fund on his own."

World Domination?

Back in November, Kanye claimed that he was going to change his name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West, telling the 2019 Fast Company Innovation Festival:

"When people say it's crass to call yourself a billionaire, I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y'all understand exactly what it is."

It's hard to tell when Kanye is joking or serious, but he seems awfully serious about this new approach to touring. We'll see what the new year brings in Kanye Land.
