Kanye West Alleged Presidential Run Called Into Question, Missed Important Deadlines

By Ryan Naumann

Kanye West may want to run for President but it seems he’s already missed several important deadlines for the election.

Over the weekend, Kanye decided he wanted to run for President and announced the news on Twitter. The musician said, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision, and building our future. I am running for president of the United States Flag of United States! #2020VISION.”

The decision received support from Elon Musk and Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian. The rest of the internet was unimpressed with the decision and many believed he was trying to take away votes from Biden in a strategy to help President Trump win a second term.

Hunter Walker, Yahoo News’ White House Correspondent, pointed out on Twitter, “By my count, there are at least nine states where it's already too late for an independent candidate to get on the ballot. The states where Kanye is already too late to get on the ballot include Texas, New York, and Illinois, three of the top six in terms of electoral college votes. There are several other deadlines coming up in the next couple weeks.”

Kanye would have had to file a bunch of paperwork with each state to be put on the ballot. He still has time to be added to a ton of states but he already missed several of the big ones who carry a large number of electoral votes.

Reports state Kanye could be a write-in candidate but 33 states require paperwork to be filed beforehand. All signs point to Kanye having quite the uphill battle if he actually plans to run for President.

One person on social media wrote, “Y'all know damn well Kanye West ain't running to take away support from his MAGA buddy, Donald Trump. He's definitely looking to play Jill Stein 2020 to grab those "Never Biden" voters still in denial that they're helping Trump just because they think their principles mean shit.”
