Kanye West has found himself in the headlines once again. As he launches a so-called presidential campaign, West garnered controversy at his first stop in Charleston, SC. West ended up causing some concern when he started screaming “I almost killed my daughter” while expressing his anti-abortion ideology. The entire appearance was incredibly erratic, and many were questioning his state of mind.
That concern continued when West went on a Twitter rant against his wife, Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, claiming that the movie Get Out was based on his life and that they were trying to “lock him up.”
Following these outbursts online and IRL, West’s manager, Bu Thiam, and his close childhood friends from Chicago Don “Don C” Crawley and John Monopoly, flew out to Ye’s ranch in Wyoming to check in on the rapper. A source told People:
“They are very concerned about his mental health and taking action. They are working to get him the help he needs. He’s been seen by a doctor. He was assessed, and the assessment on Monday determined that he did not need immediate hospitalization and that he was in a stable mental state at the time.”
Ultimately, those closest to him just want to make sure that he is doing ok.
“Don C was the best man at Kanye’s wedding and an executive at his G.O.O.D. Music label. John Monopoly is Kanye’s former manager. Those close to him are concerned, and this is everyone’s top priority to make sure that he’s safe and getting the help he needs.”
“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder,” she began. “Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health.”
She continued in the lengthy statement, ending on a plea for compassion.
“We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most. I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this. Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye’s well-being and for your understanding.”
While Kim is publicly in Kanye’s corner, there are rumors that the couple is headed for divorce. A source told US Weekly that Kim had been trying for a long time to make it work, but that she was considering a split.
“Kim has been meeting with lawyers to explore and talk about divorce.”
Apparently Kanye airing their dirty laundry at the campaign stop in SC was a bridge too far for Kim, who was “deeply upset” with her husband after “talking about their personal life and for making matters that are very personal to them and their family public.”
Will Kimye be the next couple to break up in quarantine?
