11:50 AM PT — Bieber posted a lengthy apology, saying he "didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children."
Both the Biebs and the "RHOBH" star tried to make fake pregnancy jokes for April Fools' Day but were met with backlash from fans who were quick to point out that there are plenty of women who struggle to conceive.
Bieber's "joke" began when he posted a photo of a sonogram, with no caption attached. Fans were quick to notice the photo was taken directly from Wikipedia but Bieber tried to keep the bit alive by tweeting a photo of wife Hailey Baldwin seemingly at a doctor's appointment.
He captioned his second photo, "If U thought it was April fools."
But Bieber eventually copped to the "prank" when he posted a third photo — another sonogram photo but this time with a dog — which he captioned, "Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS."
While many fans considered the whole thing harmless, others took offense.
"I’ve never been mad at @justinbieber but today I’m disappointed in him for posting a fake pregnancy announcement," one Twitter user wrote. "Honestly, not a funny joke when millions of women are struggling with infertility and other issues of the sort. Sad, @justinbieber."
Another wrote, "of course justin bieber will think a pregnancy announcement would be funny on April fools. esp so when 1 in 7 women have had a miscarriage. not to mention those suffering from infertility."
Brandi Glanville posted a fake pregnancy announcement on Instagram, which she later deleted after taking from fans. She wasn't too happy about it, later tweeting, "I deleted my April fools joke on IG BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TO F**KING SENSITIVE & I don’t feel like fighting today."
