According to multiple reports, the ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ star’s ex-bodyguard Sean Bett testified he often saw injuries to the actor and took photos of the damage to send to his lawyers.
Bett testified today in Depp’s ongoing libel trial, where he is suing a UK tabloid for calling him a ‘wife-beater.’
The security guard also submitted a photo of the actor’s face with a dark bruise under his eye, claiming he took the image after a nasty argument with Amber Heard.
At the time, Bett said he took the image after the brutal fight after Heard’s 30th birthday party in April of 2016.
But, the photo turned out to be a bit controversial in today’s hearing after it appeared the photo was taken at an earlier date in 2015.
The security guard admitted it was a ‘serious error’ but insisted the photo looked like the one he took at the time and said, “I have taken other photographs of injuries which I have sent to the attorneys.”
Johnny Depp’s former bodyguard testified that although he often saw injuries on the ‘Pirates’ star following fights with his wife — he “never saw any cuts, bruises or other injuries on Ms. Heard,” and told the court she never asked for help or reported violence by her husband.
“Throughout the course of Mr. Depp and Ms. Heard’s relationship, Ms. Heard was verbally and physically abusive towards Mr. Depp,” Bett wrote in his witness statement, submitted to the court before he took the stand.
“A very common occurrence throughout the relationship would be that Mr. Depp would have me, and other members of his security team, take him away from Ms. Heard, due to her behavior. He would then stay somewhere else,” he stated.
The security guard said the situation became such commonplace that it was hard for him to recall each specific time. He also accused the ‘Aquaman’ star of turning violent when she had been drinking.
“However, I would describe it as a recurring cycle that Ms. Heard would abuse Mr. Depp, who would then remove himself from the situation,” he said.
During his testimony, Bett described the night in which Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of hurling an iPhone at her face and assaulting her which led to her filing a domestic violence restraining order against the actor.
Bett said, at the time, the security team “expected” an argument from Heard because of her “pattern” — and said they rushed into the room after hearing shouting from inside.
“As soon as Ms. Heard noticed that we had entered the room, she looked very surprised; her demeanor then changed,” he testified.
He continued, “She pointed at Mr. Depp and screamed to us words to the effect of ‘If he hits me one more time, I am calling the police.’”
As we reported, Amber Heard claims the assault left her with facial injuries and submitted photos of the damage with her restraining order.
However, Bett insisted after he entered the apartment, Amber “had no red marks or evidence of any bruises or abrasions to her face or body.”
He continued, “I could see Mr. Depp was visibly upset at having been accused of hitting Ms. Heard. However, he never came closer than 20 feet to her during the time I was able to observe them. I did not notice any smashed glass or broken bottles in the apartment at the time,” he said.
As we reported, an LAPD officer also testified last week, that when officers arrived on the scene of the same incident — they also did not see any marks on Amber Heard’s face at the time.
The LAPD officer testified that upon arrival to the scene, Amber was “visibly upset” saying “her face was red, it was clear she was crying.” But, she claimed there were no injuries to Heard’s face claiming she examined it and was “extremely thorough.”
She was asked during the hearing by Depp’s attorney, point blank, “Did you see any marks at all of any kind suggesting injury on her face?”
She replied: “No, I didn’t.”
